In terms of content and level of knowledge, this course is between beginner and intermediate level qualifications. The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is aimed at employees in the wine sector as well as wine lovers and offers a more in-depth insight into these areas.

WSET LEVEL 2 in Wines course introduces candidates to the characteristics of the main grape varieties, the styles of wine produced from them as well as the most important world regions where they are grown. It also enables insight into classifications and markings on wine labels. The practical part includes insight into the basics of proper wine description according to the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT).

Course content:

How wine is produced
Factors affecting the style of wine
Main white and black grape varieties and their characteristics
The most important wine regions of the world and the styles of wine produced from these grape varieties
Production of sparkling, sweet and fortified wines
Interpretation of labels
Basic rules for pairing wine and food
Proper wine tasting and description according to the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT) system

Active lectures: 18 hours.
Lectures are:

- 12. December 2024 (Thursday) from 10:00 to 17:00
- 16. December 2024 (Monday) from 10:00 to 17:00
- 17. December 2024 (Tuesday) from 10:00 to 17:00
Exam: 23. December (Monday) from 10:00 to 11:30
Recommended study time outside the classroom: 11 hours.
Candidates receive study material no later than 7 days before the start of the course. The learning material is in English.

Terms and price:

No previous qualifications are required for this course, and each applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of taking the course.
Course price: 65,833 + VAT, a total of 79,000 dinars (the price includes materials for studying and taking the exam).
The deadline for payment of the entire amount is 14 days before the start of the course
Taking the exam in the period immediately after the lecture is included in the course price. There is a fee for taking the exam in one of the following dates.

Examination:

Number of questions: 50 multiple-choice questions, in English.
Estimated time for answers: 60 minutes.
Minimum number of correct answers to pass the exam: 55%
Before the start of the exam, each candidate must show their identity card or passport.
Tests are graded in London, at the WSET Examinations Directorate.
Candidates who pass the exam receive official WSET certificates.

Examination retaking:

Taking the exam in the period immediately after the lecture is included in the course price. There is a fee for taking the exam in one of the following dates.
If they do not pass the exam, all candidates have the possibility to retake it in one of the following dates, with prior registration.
Candidates who attended WSET courses in some other centers can also retake the exams at the Balkan Wine Center.
Retaking the exam depends on the availability of places in certain periods, and also implies an additional monetary fee.

Cost of retaking the examination:

Candidates who attended the course at the Balkan Wine Center: 16,000 dinars + VAT, a total of 19,200 dinars
Candidates who attended the course at another center: 20,000 dinars + VAT, a total of 24,000 dinars
In order for the application to be confirmed, the full amount must be paid no later than 5 working days after the online application, i.e. no later than 14 days before the start of the course.

If one of the candidates cancels attendance at the course after the payment has been made, Balkan Wine Center will refund 50% of the amount paid, and only if the cancellation is announced no later than 15 days before the start of the course.

If Balkan Wine Center moves the date of the course less than 7 days before the start of the course, it is obliged to refund the full amount to the candidates if they do not want to attend the course in another term.

All data left in the forms will be used exclusively by Balkan Wine Center and WSET for the purpose of registering for the exam and awarding future qualifications.
